It is a tradition in the church that the dates for the important feasts are announced today. Please make note of the following dates of this year:

Epiphany Blessing of Chalk – it has been a tradition in the Catholic Church to bless chalk at the Masses for Epiphany, and then use the blessed chalk as part of the blessing one’s house for the New Year. The home blessing can be done as follows: 20+C+M+B+XX above the doorways.

As you are writing this, you must say one of the prayers printed on the Prayer Cards available at the entrances.

National Day of Prayer for Sri Lanka – a silent 30 minute protest will be held outside our church premises after the Sinhala Mass (9.30 am). Faithful are encouraged to pray the Holy Rosary in their homes for our country.

ORCHID PROJECT

Sisters of the Epitamulla Convent, Pitakotte will be selling Orchids and bags of Vegetables in their efforts to help the less privileged families of the Irabadagama Convent (Kurunegala district).

The women of these families have been given employment to grow and cultivate these orchids and vegetables and they are now selling these to raise funds to continue this project.
